Maicon tinha como costume cheirar cola depois das aulas do ensino médio. Na periferia do capitalismo e da superstição acabam com o corpo da juventude antes mesmo de atingir a idade da razão.

Na escada da igreja católica, Maicon me contou que chegou a ver deus no teto embolorado do seu quarto, depois de secar um saquinho de leite recheado de cola de sapateiro.

Enquanto me contava que havia entrado praticamente em coma, acordando vinte horas depois, retirou da jaqueta, que o deixava mais maloqueiro, e puxou para a boca o saquinho amassado de leite. Babou um pouco e cambaleou fazendo um esforço danado para permanecer em pé. Disse que estava vendo Jesus Cristo de cabelos encaracolados na frente dele.

- É, seu idiota, e Jesus está fumando um Marlboro e ouvindo seus delírios de drogado, respondi. Até mais, sequelado. E dei-lhe as costas.

Na manhã seguinte, a caminho da escola, o encontrei dormindo na escadaria da igreja. A cara melada de cola, aninhado sobre um pedaço de papelão feito um anjo.

Comumente pensamos no silêncio como negativo, a mera ausência de som. Silêncios - é melhor pensar no plural - podem ser longos ou curtos. Diferem em qualidade, bem como em quantidade.
